Types of Herringbone Arrangements

Recently, herringbone floors have become very popular. This is a reference to classic elegance and a break from the current fashion for floorboards laid lengthwise. In order for the floor to be laid in a herringbone pattern, it must meet two features - all elements must be the same length and they must have a right-left tongue-and-groove arrangement. The advantage of such a floor arrangement is greater compensation for the work of the wood compared to longitudinal arrangement (shipboard arrangement). Depending on the cutting angle, the chevrons are divided into: Classic (90°), French (45°) and Hungarian (60°).

French Herringbone

French herringbone is a product that has taken the flooring market by storm. In the past - used in palaces and exclusive apartments, now - it can be found in almost any type of interior. To create this floor, boards cut at an angle of 45° are used. Fits classic, industrial and modern interiors. It gives them elegance, while being a very universal floor in terms of matching other design elements. All this translates into the herringbone pattern that has been in fashion for several years.

If you are looking for a herringbone with a different cutting angle (e.g. Hungarian Herringbone) or would like to know the available dimensions, write to us! Thanks to the use of an innovative production method, we have no limitations in the production of very long elements or unusual cutting angles. All this with a tongue-and-groove on a slanted edge, which allows the installer to correctly lay the floor without the characteristic "missing vertices".

Hungarian Chevron

The Hungarian Herringbone is a sister product to the French Herringbone with a different cutting angle (60 ° ). Initially little known, it begins to be found more and more often, slowly becoming the successor of the French Herringbone, or at least an equally popular floor. Usually installed in smaller rooms, it is an interesting alternative to other floors.

Classic Herringbone

Classic Herringbone consists of elements cut at an angle of 90°. Parquet floors and some boards are often used for the Classic Herringbone pattern. By far the most popular version among the classic herringbone patterns is currently the single herringbone pattern. Unlike French Herringbone or Hungarian Herringbone , classic herringbone parquet does not need to be cut specially - which makes its cost much lower. It is also possible to arrange the classic herringbone in a double or triple pattern.
